Iron Birds
By ciara | August 15, 2010
Jeff joined a softball team a few months ago called the Iron Birds. Our brother in law Cameron was the captain of the team and the season started back in May. The boys played hard each week and had a good time together. This week was the final championship game and they won 14-13!
Here they are before the last game:
Ya, we seriously need to get him some black shorts…….
Here they are after their big win with their champion t-shirts:
Great season guys!!

St. Mary’s Glacier
By jeff | May 13, 2010
Ciara and I went on a hike up to St. Mary’s Glacier over the weekend. The Glacier melts into a nice lake just below it, but this time of year the lake is still frozen over. The trail was still pretty snowy but we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Below are a few of the photos from our ‘trek’:

Happy Easter!
By ciara | April 4, 2010
The Easter bunny came to our house today:
We had a great Easter Sunday. Jeff’s parents came from Utah to visit us for the weekend. It was good to take a little time to reflect on the meaning of Easter and why it is so important.

Pass-along-cards
By ciara | February 6, 2010
So we finally broke down and created pass-along cards to help us in our adoption process. We were a little resistant to doing it at first, but they have proven to be very helpful in providing contacts. We sent out many letters to our friends and family with several cards in them. We appreciate any help you can give us in passing them out to people who may have contact with birth mothers. Some examples include:
| Church Leaders | Close Friend |
| School Principles and Counselors | Women’s Health Clinics |
| Parent of an expectant mother | OB/GYN office |
| Dentist | Hairdresser |
| Youth Center | Doctors and Nurses |
| Co-Workers | Attorneys |
If you did not get any and would like to help us out by passing them out, let us know your address and we would be happy to send you some. Thanks for all your help, faith and prayers as we try to add to our family through the miracle of adoption!!!

Happy 2010
By ciara | January 10, 2010
We enjoyed a great holiday. My parents joined us from Boston as well as my little sis from BYU. The week before Christmas we did several fun activities including dinner at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, saw the play A Christmas Carol, and went to a Colorado Avalanche hockey game. Christmas eve we went and saw the movie Blindside, which was a great movie. We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant, a Wiest Family tradition, and watched Christmas movies. Christmas morning we enjoyed another family tradition of eating Ableskevers for breakfast and opening gifts. We ate a delicious Christmas dinner and enjoyed being together. My sister Mackenzie’s friend James joined us for New Year’s and we went downtown to watch fireworks to ring in the new decade. The next day we drove to Dillon, Co to go snowmobiling. It was so much fun!! We loved having family visiting and miss them already!!

Merry Christmas!!!
By ciara | December 20, 2009
Merry Christmas to all our friends and family. We have had a great year and hope you all have too. Jeff had a great year with his job and continues to love what he does, which is a great blessing! I started work at a preschool at the beginning of the year and have the opportunity to teach 3 year olds. It is so fun!! Except for a few trips to Utah to visit family, our big vacation this year was to Florida which we loved and cannot wait to go back! Although this was a year of disappointment on the adoption front, we are truly blessed and look forward to a new year and new possibilities. May you all have a wonderful Christmas and fantastic new year!!!

Zoo Lights
By jeff | December 14, 2009
Ciara and I went to Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo over the weekend. It wasn’t too cold and the lights were better than we expected. They even had a few buildings open with animals (elephants, rhinos, and giraffes). I think it’s safe to say we’ll go again next year.

The Holidays
By jeff | December 6, 2009
At the last minute Ciara and I decided to make a road trip to Utah for Thanksgiving. We were planning to have Thanksgiving at home this year but since the weather was good, we decided to make the trip and be with family. It was good to see everyone and the food was amazing as usual.
For Christmas, we’ll be staying here in Colorado with Ciara’s family. We have a lot of activities planned and it should be a good time. We’ll be sure to post some updates.

Vacation
By ciara | November 8, 2009
Question, what do you do when you need to go on a MUCH needed getaway (see previous post). 7 days in Disney!!! We had a fabulous time at Disney World and had enough time to do and see everything. We went to all 4 parks and had a blast. The weather was hot the first day or two, but got better throughout the week. It was a little crowded, since apparently the entire state of New Jersey decided to go this week. We became the masters of the fastpass, and didn’t wait in standby lines for more than about 20 minutes. It was hard to come back from the happiest place on earth, but it’s back to reality now. At least we had the time of our lives for a week!!!

Adoption Update
By ciara | October 29, 2009
I have gone back and forth over and over again debating whether or not to write about this, but in the end we decided that we needed to let our family and friends in on what has been going on with us the past couple of months. Back in July we were contacted by a birthmother who was interested in us and we talked with her regularly 4 or 5 times a week. She made it clear that she was positive on adoption and had selected us. We began to make preparations and became obviously excited. Well, we found out in the last week that she had been lying to us the whole time and was never pregnant. While we were devastated and heartbroken, we are putting it behind us and trying to move on. We put this out there to warn others in our same position to be very careful and cautious when dealing with potential birthmothers. We now know what to look out for for next time and have learned lessons for the future.
