15 Months
By ciara | January 31, 2012
Madison is 15 month now, and we can’t believe how big she’s getting! She is walking all around now, though she still falls here and there. She is really in to tickling right now, and she will walk around the house moving her fingers and say: “tika, tika, tika”, especially to her baby dolls. She and her cousin had a playdate recently, and here are some pictures I took of the two of them:

Merry Christmas!
By ciara | December 26, 2011
We wish all our friends Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Madison received many gifts, including several dolls, a Mickey puzzle and a new boat for the bath. We began the morning with our traditional delicious aebleskivers breakfast and then went to church. The afternoon was spent napping, cuddling with our girl while she cuddled with her dolls and making a yummy turkey dinner. Merry Christmas!!

Disneyland!
By ciara | November 21, 2011
Disney has been a special place for us as we have gone through the adoption process. We were there in November 2008 when we first heard we were approved to adopt. We went there in November 2009 after a horrible adoption scam, and we were there in October 2010 when we got the best call in the world that our daughter was being born. We were so excited to continue this tradition and this time bring our little one to experience the happiest place on earth for the first time. The first day or two we were there, she was dazed and just stared at everything in amazement. After that she really loved it. We took her on every ride that we could and she was such a trooper. She never got scared or cried, just buried her head on me at the beginning of Haunted Mansion. Her favorite was the Winnie the Pooh ride, so we rode that like 10 times. The lines were short and we took advantage of the combination of the “baby swap” and fast pass for the bigger rides. The best part was that we just laid down her stroller and she napped while we took turns riding rides, which I was not convinced she would do. When we saw a character, she wanted to touch their nose, which was so cute. She got the biggest smile when we saw Mickey the first time, which made the whole trip worth it. We also got a big smile when we took her to see Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. We had such a good time, and are already planning our next trip to go back!

1 Years Old!
By ciara | October 11, 2011
Our little girl is 1 today! We cannot believe how much time has flown! She is 28 3/4 inches long and weighs 19lbs 5 oz. Her favorite things are Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. She is not walking on her own yet, but walks along the couch. She continues to bring so much joy to our family and we love her so much!
We took Maddie to the zoo and she definitely is an animal lover like her dad!
She had fun with her cousin Parker:
We ended the night with cake and ice cream. Or in Maddie’s case, just icing:
Happy Birthday to our Princess!

It’s Official!
By ciara | May 5, 2011
We went to court yesterday and officially adopted Madison. She was so good during the whole proceeding even though there were two other families who went before us and she is teething. They ask you a bunch of questions to make sure you know there are no take backs and that you will provide for the child financially. We are so excited to have it finalized! We love you sweet girl!!!

Real Food!
By ciara | March 14, 2011
Maddie finally started eating solid foods last week. I started with the rice cereal and am trying to get her used to it before I start something else. She tips her head back when I try and put it in her mouth and gets very mad when I don’t get it in quick enough. I think she wants it to come in a continuous flow like her bottle and gets very frustrated when it doesn’t come soon enough. We also met up with her birthmom two weekends ago and said goodbye to her as she heads off to Afghanistan with the military. We are so grateful for her service to our country and wish her all the best while she is there. This past weekend Jeff’s parent’s came for a visit and Maddie had fun getting acquainted with her Grandma and Grandpa. She gave them lots of smiles and cuddles. We bought her a new crib last week because the one we had was a drop side crib given to us a few years ago and we finally needed to replace it. It took her a few days to get used to it, but she loves it now!

Little roller
By ciara | March 4, 2011
Last weekend Maddie finally decided it was time to roll over. I have been trying with her unsuccessfully for several weeks, and one morning she just started rolling all over the place! It is so fun to start to see her personality develop and she is definitely going to do things at her pace when she is ready. I have also been trying to get her to eat cereal, but am not having much luck. She hasn’t got the whole swallowing thing down yet and just shoves it out with her tongue. I’ll just keep trying, and I’m sure that just like rolling, she will do it when she’s ready:)

Our big girl
By ciara | February 16, 2011
Madison had her 4 month appointment yesterday and she is getting so big!! She was 13 lbs 11 oz and is in the 70th percentile for height. I cannot believe how big she is getting! Jeff and I joke that she will be taller than us before too long, but at the rate she is going it might be true! She cried only for a few seconds when getting her shots, but was a trooper. She has been on Tylenol and a little out of it, but still manages to give us lots of smiles. She hit another milestone last night and slept through the night. It was heavenly! I tried giving her solid food today and it did not go so well. She doesn’t have the swallowing thing down yet and spits some of it out. She got some down though, and we are so proud of her!

After her first try at rice cereal:
